About

IMG_4968.JPG

Live Oak Kids was founded in 2020 in response to a recognized need in the community for more accessible, targeted early intervention occupational therapy services that move beyond surface-level symptoms to address the neurological foundations of development. At the core of our work is a deep understanding of sensory processing and how it shapes regulation, motor skills, learning, and emotional wellbeing.

From the beginning, our approach has been holistic and strengths-based, supporting not just the child, but the entire family system. We believe meaningful progress happens when we understand the “why” beneath a child’s challenges and design therapy that is both developmentally precise and deeply individualized.

Maggie O'Reilly, the founder of Live Oak Kids, is a Pittsburgh, PA native who has always carried her hometown close to her heart. After spending many years in the Bay Area — where she built her practice and deepened her expertise — she is excited to bring truly effective, holistic OT support to the community that shaped her and the families she is honored to serve.

We serve children and families with two locations in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, PA and the Bay Area, CA.

Our Approach

Our approach focuses on the critical early years. By understanding the nervous system and the importance of play, we support self-regulation and skill-building in ways that help children grow confident in who they are.

If your child struggles with new situations, coordination, playing with others, or big emotions, you're in the right place.

At Live Oak Kids, we guide parents in supporting their child’s unique needs through play, movement, and evidenced based reflex integration and sensory strategies. Our sessions create an enriching space for children to explore, connect, and grow –  all while giving caregivers the tools and confidence to help them flourish beyond weekly sessions.

At Live Oak Kids our mission is to spark curiosity, connection, and lifelong well-being through the power of play and the natural world.

Meet the Owner

Maggie O'Reilly, MOT, OTR/L
Founder, Occupational Therapist

Maggie is a licensed and board-certified occupational therapist, nature lover, and parent who understands the challenge of finding the right answers for your unique child.

With 19+ years as a pediatric OT and specialized training in sensory processing, reflex integration, neuroaffirming care, early childhood development, and nature-based therapy, Maggie has seen firsthand how children flourish when they’re given the proper support. She created Live Oak Kids to offer holistic, joyful, and evidence-based services that genuinely address the foundations of regulation, movement, and engagement.

When working with our team at Live Oak Kids, we want kids to feel celebrated and safe to explore, take risks, move through their emotions, and build resilience, and for caregivers to feel supported and empowered.

The Values that Guide Our Work

Following your child's lead in play allows us to bring creativity and playfulness to our therapeutic work with children, promoting regulation, engagement, and joy.

Connect and Collaborate

We know that connection and collaboration is key to a child’s success. We utilize a relationship based approach to ensure children feel safe and supported in our programs. We love collaborating with caregivers and providers to offer effective and holistic care for children.

Cultivate Joy

We meet children where they are, attune to their needs and follow their lead. We bring creativity and playfulness to our work with children, helping them discover the joy of learning, exploring, and being their true selves. We love learning what brings your child joy and bringing more of that into daily life.

Be Curious

A child's natural sense of wonder and curiosity is one of the greatest gifts of childhood. The power of observation and exploration opens the door to learning and discovery for children, therapists, teachers and caregivers. As therapists we never stop learning about our clients and current evidenced based best practices.

Celebrate Strengths

We embrace and celebrate every
child's unique way of thinking, communicating, feeling and learning. By valuing neurodiversity, we help kids feel proud of who they are and foster a sense of belonging. We harness the power of each individuals strengths to grow and build new skills.

How Live Oak Kids Can Help

Kids thrive when we look at the full picture, not just isolated struggles. Our holistic approach takes into account foundational brain development, sensory motor skills, nervous system regulation, and social emotional growth.

Children develop strategies, skills and confidence so they can engage joyfully in more activities at home, school and in the community.

Ultimately, children feel happier, and parents feel better equipped to support their child’s unique needs.
